Our program combines the calming practice of yoga with lively fitness activities, designed to promote flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. Our instructors guide children through fun yoga poses, engaging games, and wellness practices, nurturing their physical and mental well-being. Each session is crafted to boost self-esteem, concentration, and body awareness, making fitness an exciting adventure.     Pretzel Kids®: Yoga, Fitness, and Fun is designed to foster physical literacy by engaging students in yoga and fitness activities that promote the development of motor skills, physical fitness, and a lifelong love of movement.

    Each lesson is structured to meet specific fitness goals, ensuring students not only participate in yoga and fitness routines but also understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

    Through active play and structured sessions, Pretzel Kids® encourages students to demonstrate competence in yoga poses and fitness exercises, apply knowledge of movement concepts, and exhibit responsible personal and social behavior, fully embracing the vision of empowering students to lead healthy, active lives.

  • Focus Areas

    Each week, students will explore different aspects of Pretzel Kids®: Yoga, Fitness, and Fun, beginning with basic yoga poses and breathing techniques to improve flexibility and mindfulness.

    Strength and teamwork will be key focuses, with exercises such as partner poses, fitness circuits, and group activities to enhance physical fitness and cooperation. Balance and coordination techniques, including tree poses, balancing exercises, and core strengthening, will boost overall stability.

    Agility and relaxation skills will be developed through dynamic stretches and guided meditation exercises. This rotating skill set approach ensures students gain a well-rounded understanding of yoga and fitness, promoting continuous improvement and a deeper love for physical activity and well-being.

Yoga Basics: Poses and Breathing

In this lesson, students will learn foundational yoga poses such as Downward Dog, Warrior, and Child's Pose, along with basic breathing techniques. These exercises will help improve flexibility, balance, and mindfulness, setting the stage for more advanced practice.

Strength in Unity: Partner Poses and Fitness Circuits

Students will explore partner yoga poses and fun fitness circuits designed to build strength and teamwork. This lesson emphasizes cooperation and communication as students support each other in poses and complete challenging fitness activities together.

Balancing Act: Enhancing Coordination and Stability

This lesson focuses on balance and coordination through poses like Tree Pose, Eagle Pose, and balancing exercises. Students will improve their stability and core strength, gaining confidence in their ability to maintain balance in various postures.

Agility and Flexibility: Dynamic Stretches and Movements

Students will engage in dynamic stretches and agility exercises to enhance their flexibility and overall agility. This lesson includes flowing movements and stretches that promote a greater range of motion and prepare the body for more complex activities.

Calm and Focus: Guided Meditation and Relaxation

In this session, students will practice guided meditation and relaxation techniques to cultivate calm and focus. This lesson includes breathing exercises, visualization, and gentle stretches designed to reduce stress and improve mental clarity, fostering a sense of inner peace.

Course Format

BAM's Sports Programming is designed to align with SHAPE America's National Standards for K-12 Physical Education, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging approach to physical education. Each lesson follows a structured format that includes a Warm-up, Technical Drills, Reinforcing Game, and Scrimmages, providing a well-rounded experience that promotes skill development, fitness, and fun.

Warm-up: Each session begins with a dynamic warm-up to prepare students' bodies for physical activity, enhancing flexibility, and reducing the risk of injury.

Technical Drills: Students then move on to technical drills, focusing on the fundamental skills required for each sport. These drills are designed to improve motor skills, coordination, and technique, providing a solid foundation for game play.

Reinforcing Game: Following the drills, students participate in a reinforcing game that allows them to apply their newly acquired skills in a fun and supportive environment. This segment emphasizes teamwork, strategic thinking, and practical application of skills.

Scrimmages: The lesson culminates in scrimmages, where students engage in friendly, competitive play. This not only reinforces the skills learned but also encourages sportsmanship, fair play, and a love for the game.

Durable Skills Reinforcements: Throughout each lesson, BAM integrates durable skills reinforcements, focusing on critical life skills such as communication, leadership, and perseverance. These elements ensure that students not only grow physically but also develop important social and emotional competencies.
